An ode to Fall

If seasons of an entire year were a day, fall/autumn would be a relaxed evening in which you sit back, maybe read a book and sip some warm tea or coffee, for it comes after the sprightly morning of spring is long gone, and the hullabaloo afternoon of summer has just settled down, and as we stoically pace for the long night of winter.

No other season resonates with me as much as this time of the year, perhaps because I am past my summer of youth, and the long winters of old age are on the horizon, so yes, I am in my fall, no pun intended.

The colors of fall are a beautiful yet pensive reminder that while nothing lasts forever, the gratitude to have lived, loved and nurtured a blissful spring and summer season is enough to keep us warm and cherished through the oncoming frigidity.

I hope you get to enjoy the beautiful blue fall sky, the crisp air, the hustle of squirrels stocking away food, with the warmth of your family and friend’s affection, and acknowledge the graciousness of a life lived well, and share with me the optimism of enjoying an amazing oncoming winter. Stay warm!
